How an initial consultation with "Rückenwind" parents works

Many parents hesitate for a long time before seeking support. This is usually due to uncertainty about what to expect during such a conversation. What questions will be asked? Do I have to tell everything right away? And what if I feel uncomfortable?

I can put your mind at ease. During the initial consultation at “Rückenwind” (Parents), no one will judge whether you’re a good mother or father. You’ll be provided with a safe space where your situation is taken seriously.

In short

During the initial consultation at Rückenwind Eltern, we’ll assess your situation. Together, we’ll figure out which next step is right for you.

What Happens During the Initial Consultation

You’ll explain, at your own pace, what brought you here. There’s no set list of questions, nor is there a formal record. No one will pressure you for a diagnosis. Above all, I’ll listen and ask follow-up questions where an answer might provide more clarity.

By the end, you’ll have a better sense of where you stand. And you’ll have an idea of what a meaningful next step might be—whether that’s working with me or something entirely different.

What You Don’t Need to Bring

You don’t need to prepare a summary of your situation. You also don’t need to have thought everything through beforehand. Many parents come in with a vague feeling that things can’t go on this way, and they go home with much greater clarity.

Tears are okay, too. Just like saying, “I don’t really know exactly what’s going on.” That’s what this space is for.

  • You don’t need any prior knowledge
  • There is no diagnosis during the initial consultation
  • You don’t have to decide right away
  • Everything remains confidential and non-judgmental

What happens next

After the session, you’ll receive a brief assessment and a recommendation. For example, whether counseling is a good fit and what format would make sense. Sometimes it becomes clear that something else needs to be addressed first.

You can then take your time to decide. You won’t sign anything, and you’re under no obligation. Even if you want to sleep on it for a few weeks, that’s perfectly fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does an initial consultation last?

Usually about 30 minutes. That’s enough time for an initial assessment and isn’t overwhelming for anyone.

Is there a fee for the initial consultation?

That depends on the format. You can find the current terms and conditions on the services page.

What Can Help Now

An initial consultation doesn’t commit you to anything. You’re bringing in another perspective instead of continuing to mull things over on your own.
